Lincoln Christmas Market

This year, Lincoln Christmas Market has been cancelled for 2024.  Nestled within the medieval square and surrounding area there are 150 stalls that make up this wonderful traditional Christmas Market.

The stall will be open between the following times:

  • Thursday 1st December – 12pm – 9:30pm
  • Friday 2nd December – 10am – 9:30pm
  • Saturday 3rd December – 10am – 9:30pm
  • Sunday 4th December – 10am – 7pm

Taking place over four days there will be approx 150 stalls featuring everything from delicious food and drinks to festive homeware & gifts for all the family.  The stalls will be located across the entire Cathedral Quarter, from The Lawn through to the grounds of Lincoln castle and out into Castle Square.

What Can You Do At Lincoln Christmas Market

This is what you can get up to at this year’s Lincoln Christmas Market:

In addition to the Christmas stalls, there will also be a family funfair packed with rides and attractions including the famous Ferris Wheel.  To celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Christmas Market there will be a special opening ceremony this year which will take place at midday on the 1st of December.

Parking At Lincoln Christmas Market

There is no parking in the vicinity of the Christmas Market so all cars should use the dedicated Christmas Market Park and Ride service which operates from the Lincolnshire Showground on the A15 just north of Lincoln. The park and ride site will be well sign posted on all approach roads and for those using a sat nav the postcode is LN1 2ZF (the christmas market post code will not take you to the exact entrance for this car park so please follow signage) Gate 4 entrance to park and ride.

There is also a dedicated service for people with disabilities, using specially adapted vehicles which also runs from the showground.

All buses drop off close to the Museum of Lincolnshire Life.

Park and Ride

Tickets cost £12* for one vehicle and up to 7 passengers and can be used on any one day of the Christmas Market.

To purchase you will need a smart phone, download the Stagecoach Bus app, select tickets and then ensure it is set to Lincoln.

The ticket should only be activated on the day of intended use. You will need to have internet access to activate your ticket and we recommend you do this at home on the day of using the ticket prior to heading out for the park and ride

Operating times for the Park and Ride

Thursday 1st December: 11.30am – 10pm
Friday 2nd and Saturday 3rd December:  9am – 10pm
Sunday 4th December: 9am – 7:30pm

On the day charges per car are(this includes parking and bus for everyone in the vehicle):
Thursday £13, Friday £14, Saturday £15 and Sunday £14.
Please bring exact change or use contactless.
A vehicle carrying 8 to 15 people is classed as a mini bus and the fee for per vehicle is £25.

The earliest time denotes departure from the Showground and the latest time denotes departure from the Museum of Lincolnshire Life. The service is on a fill and go basis and/or a frequency of every 7 minutes, whichever is sooner. Timings may be subject to variation subject to weather conditions and numbers of visitors.

Please note: Sorry no dogs are allowed to attend the Christmas Market except assistance dogs.

Bus Services from the city centre

A variety of bus services operate from the town centre up to the Christmas Market. Most bus services operate from the bus station which is just opposite the train station. The Walk and Ride service operates from Silver Street up to the market.

Toilets

Accessible toilet facilities for disabled people are available on site including at the park and ride site at the Lincolnshire Showground. There is a changing places facility available with the lawn area of the Christmas Market and a permanent changing places toilet is also available at Lincoln Cathedral.

Lincoln Christmas Market takes place in the historic quarter of Lincoln with some parts on cobbled streets. In area such as the Castle grounds they have tried to make the walkways and public spaces as even as possible, with ramps on to raised areas.  The Christmas Market takes places at the top of Steep Hill, which at its steepest is a 1:7 gradient.
