The River Dee

River Dee Chester

 

The River Dee Chester is a river that flows through both Wales and England, forming part of the border between the countries. It has a total length of 70 miles.

It attracts thousands of visitors and locals every year who come down to the ‘Groves’ which is a paved promenade to look at the views, have an ice cream and hire a pedalo, rowing boat and motor boat.

Along the river there are numerous cafe’s, pubs and restaurants to choose from ranging from Hickory’s smokehouse which is a American style diner to Twenty2 which is a boutique restaurant and hotel that overlooks the river.

Throughout the year there are numerous events on the river ranging from a duck race to live music on the Victorian bandstand.

The City Sightseeing Bus Tour also stops at the River just outside Hickories Restaurant.

The river dee is approx 5 minutes walk from the city centre and can be accessed from Chester City Walls and also Grosvenor Park.
