Eastgate Clock

Situated on Eastgate Street. Eastgate clock is Chester’s most iconic landmark and the second most photographed clock in the World after Big Ben.  The clock was built in 1899 to celebrate Queen Victoria’s Diamond Jubilee of 1897.

The clock was built by the World famous J.B Joyce of Whitchurch in Shropshire who until 1974 sent a technician to Chester every week to wind it.  It is accessible from Eastgate Street by staircases either side of the road next to the arch.

The Clock is opposite the Grosvenor Hotel and is close to Chester Cathedral and the Grosvenor Shopping Centre.
