British Music Experience

From the Beatles, The Rolling Stones and Bowie to The Spice Girls, Oasis, Adele and X-Factor, the British Music Experience boasts an unrivalled collection of memorabilia, stage outfits, instruments, images and footage. It charts the beginnings, rise and influence of British pop from 1945 to the present day. There is outfits worn by artists from Freddie Mercury and Dusty Springfield, to the Spice Girls, Adam Ant and Little Mix and musical instruments played by some of the world’s most renowned artists from Noel Gallagher to the Sex Pistols. There is have hand written song lyrics from Adele, the original statues from the Brits and the Apple Corp front door from Saville Row.  It is a 30 minute drive from Chester.

The Museum includes galleries, interactive zones, audio visual experiences and hologram performances.  You can get hands-on in the Gibson Interactive Studio by learning to play guitar, drums or keyboards and dance your way through the eras in our Dance the Decades studio.

Opening Times

The BME is reopening on Saturday 29th May. 

As othe first week of opening coincides with the UK school holidays, they will be open 29th, 30th and 31st May and then 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th June. During the rest of June, they will be open each Friday, Saturday and Sunday as well as Thursday 24th June.

The museum is open 10am – 5pm.

Last Entry is at 3.45pm.

From time to time the Museum has a planned closure for a private hire. Always check the web site before travelling and book in advance to avoid disappointment.

British Music Experience Directions

The British Music Experience is based in the Cunard Building, Pier Head, Liverpool Waterfront.  The main entrance is located on Canada Boulevard, on the river side of the building, opposite the Mersey Ferry terminal. For visitors with special mobility requirements, there is an accessible entrance at the side of the building on Brunswick Street.

By Car

Follow signs to the Waterfront, Albert Dock and Mersey Ferries. There is very limited on-street metered parking around the Cunard Building and please note there are major roadworks on The Strand at the moment so plan your journey in advance.

Public Transport

Multiple train providers have services to Liverpool Lime Street including Avanti, London Midland, TransPennine Express and Northern Rail.  Merseyrail’s James Street and Moorfields stations are the nearest drop-off points and all buses into Liverpool drop-off at the Liverpool ONE bus station adjacent to the Liverpool Waterfront.
