Storyhouse Chester is Chester’s new £37 million cultural centre in Chester city centre. It is an inspirational library, two state of the art theatres, a cinema, library, restaurant & two bars.
On the old site of Chester’s Odeon Cinema. The company also runs a highly successful theatre company which has gained national acclaim for its new stage adaptations, including the first ever version of Enid Blyton’s The Secret Seven. Storyhouse also runs the country’s most successful regional open-air theatre company, in the grosvenor park which is called Grosvenor Park Open Air Theatre.
Storyhouse Chester Cinema
Storyhouse is bringing cinema back to the heart of the Odeon, a boutique 100-seat cinema will screen a range of classic, independent and blockbuster films. The cinema sits within a sound-proofed pavilion inside the historic Odeon’s former auditorium.
Eating
In the heart of Storyhouse is Chester’s newest and most exciting restaurant – The Kitchen. The Kitchen at Storyhouse has been a huge success for daytime and pre-theatre dining. It’s now open for evening dining seven days a week – fresh, colourful, modern cuisine, inspired by the flavours of the Levant, made right here in The Kitchen. New all-day menu is available from 12pm – 9.30pm Monday-Saturday and until 9.00pm on Sundays.
The main café bar in The Kitchen is open all day from 8am to 11pm, serving coffees, teas, and a full bar menu featuring an menu of wine, beer and spirits. You’re welcome to take your drinks and food to enjoy anywhere in the building; including the library, theatre and cinema (drinks will need to be in a plastic glass to go in the theatre and cinema)
Bar
The rooftop Garret Bar, part of the Garret Bar and Theatre, is a grown-up bar with panoramic views, open during main theatre events. Perfect for pre-theatre and interval drinks along with serving events happening in the Garret Theatre.
